clunk clunk clunk!!!!

well, went to the track the other nite, and now when the car is in nuetral or has any kinda load on it, it sounds like a dryer with wood chips in it. when I push the clutch pedal in, it goes away. The car drives normally, engages ok, and feels fine to drive. But the noise is a lil scary to trust to drive around in. I def. think its my clutch, maybe I chiped or cracked the disk? any suggestions or relaed situations?

IMO even if the car is in neutral the pressure plate clutch disc and tranny input are all rotating at engine idle speed. If you disengage the clutch and it rattles you might be on to something with the clutch disc. Try to get a better idea of where the noise is coming from. What sort of track day was this? Launching?

when i press the clutch pedal (disenguage the clutch) the noise goes away. when the pedal is in its normal position, in neutral or in gear, it makes this noise. ive popped the hood and reved it from the throttle body and the noise is not coming from the engine. my only theory is that it is the clutch.

also, i was drag racing. running low 12's I dont launch it to hard (i launch at like 3500) , my 1st gear to 2nd gear shift is much more harsh than my launches (turbo and nos works wonders). It chirps all 4 wheels. very snappy due to torque. its a rs trans if that makes a difference

rs tranny, N2O, turbo. Doesn't sound like the best mix. With clutch in you have disengaged the flywheel from the input shaft on the tranny. If it only makes the noise when the clutch is engaged that would mean the tranny input is rotating. IMO you should look to the tranny to find your problem. This sounds like it might be a worst case senario.

dont think its my tranny internals, wouldnt that effect the drivability of the car? if the noise was not there, with would appear to be in normal driving condition. Ive snapped gears before (2nd gear and the main shaft) so I know how that sounds and drives. I can accelerate and shift as if there isnt a problem. just that noise that sounds like its coming from the bell housing. i dunno. I hope for the best, but assume the worst
