problem about suspension
problem about suspension
I bought a used 2002 WRX about 2 years ago, and the previous owner has lower the spring, I have no idea about this brand, the color looks like blue and about 1 in. low than stock. I feel uncomfortable with this setting and danger if in high speed with bad road, it will bouncing so hard like up and down, i feel like the spring is soft? anyway, does anyone know about this kind of problem, damage of damper? or just the cheap bad spring? so I am wondering if that's the spring problem, which brands people are recommad to get? I like to lower and with better performace.
thanks for anyone's help

depending on the mileage, and how much of that the springs were on, the shocks are probably going bad. the springs seem like theyre prodrive based on your description and even though those are designed with the stock strut in mind, they eventually can blow out resulting in the sketchy bouncing on bad roads and higher speeds. if thats the case, u probably need new struts. most go with kyb agx for adjustable dampening, some go with koni yellow, supposed to be the best but a little more difficult to get it working cuz u have to modify the strut, but since you already have blown struts (maybe) u could just use those. however the down time will be longer and labor will be more intensive/expensive.

From what I know, progress also makes a blue lowering spring for the WRX. Like gmodc7 said, what is your mileage since the higher the mileage the higher chance your shocks are blown.
If that is the case, I'd recommend the Konis over the KYBs. It all depends on personal preference, since the Konis have a much better low speed dampening, it makes the ride a lot harder at low speeds over bumps since it has a much stronger dampening rate, while KYBs don't. Also, Konis have a lifetime warranty that it will never break (of course all shocks will blow), but it should never bend or snap. I've seen pretty scary pictures of a JIC setup that snapped on a prelude.
