suspension problem, can't take out
hi everyone, well i went over to jon's house tonite trying to install my full suspension on, but we ran into a problem right at the end. the last strut, the rear left, the two bolts that hold the strut to the rotor, was frozen. we used a impact gun set to the highest, and it still wouldnt budge. we lubed it with wd40, and went at it for about a good 2 hours with no progress. we tried tightening it and trying to loose it, but with no success. anyone has any sugestions on how to get that two bolts free? both of them won't go. I have two options in mind, grinding the bolts off and getting new ones or send it to a shop that will gaurantee the work will be done and let them deal with that nightmare. what should i do? thanks

The same thing happened to me also. The impact gun was doing nothing...however all i did was change out impact guns and it came right off. If your doing you work on base at the do-it yourself auto shops...they tend to have strong and weak impact guns. Thats the limit of my experience with this problem.

yes the impact guns that we were using were putting out much more torque than 80ft/lbs. Don't know the exact amount. i've used these impact guns on other things including my suspension and it came off like a charm. Also used these impact guns on my crank pulley and it came right off. not to mention other things as well!
I never thought about heating it up then breaking it off
that might work but then again Don't know how that will go.
The way it felt when we were trying to break it off (with a 1/2" drive breaker bar) was like the bolts were stripped then the nuts were impacted on very tight!

many times 1 out of 3 cars will have the bolts torqued to well over 150 ft/lbs.
