First, i love my 03 wrx wagon and really don't want to change its current characteristics. Who am i kidding I love to have the best car on the street, but after several former projects trying many different setups I HAVE LEARNT TO BE VERY CAREFUL WITH MODS!
I have a slammed, loud and all around unpleasent ride everywhere but a smooth race track. I (and more importantly my wife) do not want a rough loud car and I am wondering what setup people have tried that provides better cornering and a stock ride over bumps.
I know STI setup stays at stock height but I have read it is very stiff and requires slowing over railroads etc. HELP me I'm only asking for everything, fastest, best handling REX with stock ride and mild muffler.
PS: What is the mildest sounding muffler out their ( Vishnu, M2 ?)

STi Genome
Here is a thread I posted in the "other" site:

I'm very happy with this setup for a controlled but not harsh, daily driver. One other alternative to replacing the springs/struts is to just upgrade the front/rear swaybars, add an Anti Lift Kit, heavy duty endlinks, and a good alignment. I was very happy with my setup before i installed the suspension. Car was vastly improved over stock but was still nice and compliant over the rough stuff. Its something to consider as a first step, because its cheaper and a good performance value for the money.

The most intriguing option out there, and the one that best suits your requirements (mine too) is the Praxis System. The down sides are... not available for at least another 4 months, no firm numbers for price, new but not totally un-proven tech, and a rather harsh classification penalty. On the upside, stock like ride and ground clearance when you want it, 2 inch drop, nearly doubled spring rates, and much stiffer valving when you want it, all at the touch of a button, and its made by a reputable company with serious motorsports involvement, Bridgestone.

daily driver suspension
I have heard about the praxxis suspension and it sounds awsome but I do have my doubts about using airbag shocks. Still technology has come a long way so maybe they got it right. I will wait for reviews from others before spending that chunk of change.
Another option i discovered is the STI Genome suspension for wagons it lowers the car very slightly and maintains the daily driver feel. I only read one review, does anyone else have any input?

As it is, the Praxis system looks very interesting. Mercedes has been doing the air suspension thing for quite awhile, so its actually not new technology. so hopefully the Praxis will be pretty bug free when it hits the streets.

Now, the STi (SPT) setup withOUT the crossmember bushings does just what you want. It has vastly improved cornering, and a better than stock ride over bumps.
Add other STi components to that (rear links, front control arm bushings) and you will have a superb handling WRX that will at home on the track or the rallycross course.
The Prodrive is a nice, mellow-sounding muffler.

I have the full SPT(STi) kit, including the the front control arms on my 03 WRX sedan. I love. Its not that harsh, and as for slowing down over railroad tracks, I don't think so. You will notice the amount of rebound in the suspension. Where the stock suspension glides over certain ripples in the street, the SPT setup will skip. On high frequency abrupt changes is the only place I can fault the suspension. But otherwise I feel its a great street setup. My wife thinks its fine, likes the way it got rid of all the "leaning" in her words.
Although, after this one wears out, I would copnsider something like that praxis system.
