move front rotors to back?
if i get new front rotors and pads, can i move the old front rotors to the rear wheels? would the calipers work on the bigger rotor or would i have to buy new calipers for the front and move the front ones back. and if i did that would i have to change anything else, liek hte master cylinder? please fill me on what my options are and such. thanks

What follows has not been tried but...
Talking with a friend who has a viper and is threatening to do the same thing new fronts and move the fronts to the rear, aware that he would loose his e-brake he has been searching for a solution. What he came across is a line lock kit that will with some rigging back to the hand brake lock all four wheels.
there are ovcourse many obvious draw backs to this: getting towed, rotor damage etc. but if you are hell bent you could look into it.

no i am not hell bent on it. i just figured if i get new front rotors and have the old front ones sitting around it would be cool to be able to upgrade the back for free.
What front breaks do you recommend and by who. also what pads to go with them? i am need some that will last a bit. i don't want to be replacing them all the time. i just want better stopping power. any opinions?

I suppose it's theoretically possible, but it would be more of a pain than just getting the rear 2 pots, plus you'd have to deal with the lack of an e-brake.

ok cool. why slotted and not drilled? and what brands would you recommend. i won't be doing much on any track. but i do drive it pretty hard when i can. not to mention my rotors are warped...or one is a little. not to mention after a bit of rough driving or slowing down from high speeds, the breaks just don't stop as well. what rotor, pad combination would you recommend for the front only? thanks

Slotted help reduce brake fade, drilled just puts weak spots for it to crack if it overheats. I am stil on stock brakes, so I don't have personal experience to share. I do have faith in the opinions of Mike Shields though. Read the Impreza brakes section on www.spdusa.com so I don't have to retype it out. It's what I'd recommend using.

I run every day on this set up in makes a mess dust wise but it holds up well in my monthly excursions to the track. I drive fairly hard and unless you intend to race for real, not just do track days i would suggest going with:
DOT 4 or 5 fluid
Slotted front rotors ( ihave rotora)
Axxiss ultimate pads (or other apropriate pads hawk, pagid etc.)
my next step is to upgrade the rear rotors to legacy 290mm rears and throw more pads on the back.
That said a good friend has stoptechs and passed everyone under braking last weekend because he could wait 50% longer to brake (food for thought.)
