Hard brakes
Ive been experiencing a problem with my brakes that seems to make them very hard, it feels assif the brakes dont grip as hard as their supposed to when i press them, and even when i push the pedal all the way in it feels assif the car isnt slowing down quick enough, my brakes dont squeal at all, only a little when the car is cold. Does anyone know what this problem could be related to?
i also have same problem , it feels like the brake "delay". And when i hit the brake, go over bump, or slow turn, it makes a werid sound, but i'm not sure if it's from the brake or suspesion. my car is 02 WRX seden. And yes i'm new to this car, so any expert help here?
My problem sounds very similar, it feels like the anti-lock brakes are taking over with a real hard brake pedal and pulsing in the pedal. Usually happens when I’m turning (even slightly) and need too stop quickly. My wife’s grandprix has anti-lcks and you can stand on them and it stops without a slip of a tire, something wrong please help

When the ABS activates on a WRX, you will know it by the pulsing pedal, a noticeable noise (ABS pulses brakes), and the sensation that the car is no longer slowing down. It is still slowing down but not at the usual rate of deceleration. The ABS is a little too sensitive on the WRX, in my opinion, and nothing can be done about it short of getting stickier replacement tires.
My ABS will activate if it sense the least amount of brake lockup or speed differential between wheels on wet surfaces, and has also activated while braking only moderately if I hit a bump or manhole cover in the road.
Replacing pads is not the solution to troublesome ABS - this will merely make the situation worse. You need more grip from the tires, as the ABS activates when it thinks there is skidding.
If under braking you do not feel pedal pulsing or hear the shuddering noise from the ABS, then your brake problem is something else.

Hmmm well Shado's original problem sounds like brake lines that need bleeding just from the introduction of air over time or boiling. Getting high quality break oil (DOT 5) will give you better protection over the boiling. And if you;re going to bleed why not upgrade to stainless steel lines
only $90. You're breaks will feel VERY solid.
As for the others, when you break when losing traction in such a way that the ABS feels it cannot compensate for the terrain (like a bumpy road) I think the ABS guesses your airborn
and lets the pedal sink. Think about it, if you brake when airborn, what's gonna happen when all your momentum touches the ground again
Now, this is just an educated guess...so...

Do yourself a favor and get some Valvoline Synpower DOT4 brake fluid and bleed the system. It's available at Autozone for pretty cheap. It really helped with ABS oversensitivity in my 02 WRX.
