Few suspension questions
I recently decided to mod my 2003 WRX, which is currently dead stock.
I have purchased KYB AGX struts and an Eibach Pro kit, both should be installed just after the new year.
My question, When looking at the AGXs, the piston seems to be substantially wider than the one on the stock struts, and I want to make sure that these will be a direct replacement and can be used with the stock mounts/strut tops (I know I should replace these too, but I'm working on a tight budget here)...
Cliff notes: AGX strut piston substantially wider than stock, will these work with the stock strut tops/mounts ?

Yes they will. I'm using Perrin springs/AGX combo right now w/ the stock tops. They work fine. The only set back I encounter that other members say will be cured by STI strut tops is the slight bounce I get due to undulations on freeways.

AGX will work fine with eibachs and stock upper-mounts. Start AGXs at the lowest settind and increase until desired handling benefits are achieved. The bounce is in part due to AGX's being gas struts. I opted for hydraulic Konis, but thats just my choice...
Sounds like a good combo! I currently have the Eibachs
on my '03 sedan.... too bad I didn't do the struts at the
same time! A couple of the stock struts are shot now.
But I do like the springs.
Anyway, I have a set of KYB AGX's on order too! Can't
wait to get those in.
Wish I had listened to my friend about doing everything
at once....ugggh....now new struts and another alignment!
damn. At least the struts are an upgrade.
Live and learn I guess.
My KYB's should be in as soon as they arrive since I'm
a worthless bum on vacation till the 5th!
Good luck on your install!!

I would buy and install some STi tops at the same time.
You will eliminate the possibility of having to remove the struts to replace the tops when you(will) deceide that it is necessary.
The stock tops are MUSH, just like the rest of the stock suspension bushings, and replacing them now is easier than later.
Also, the AGX's should be 'broken in' using middle setings...I read this somewhere in their printed literature or on their website.
I had Eibach springs on mine and ran 3/3 with no problems, but I'm glad I bought new tops and junked the stockers. If nothing else...get just the front tops.
