Went to Subaru to purchase WRX today.

Ok I went to Subaru today to purchase a white 2004 WRX. Very disappointing. First off, they said it was impossble for me to get a white one. They said they don't even make them for 2004. Such BS. I told them there was one white one in New England and it was in Conn. The salesguy said "well it must have been a special order because they don't exsist." I was so mad that he didn't know what he was talking about so I just dropped it. The next thing that pissed me off was the run around with numbers. Once I had decided on a color we got down to business. They made me extremely happy with the money they were giving me for my trade in. Also, I got them to go $500 over invoice which also made me happy. Now the bad part. The monthly payments sucked *** and they said there was nothing they could do about it. More BS. I thought you could have them talk to their finance manager about lowering interest rates? I told him that if the montly payments were no more then $300, I'd sign the papers right here and now. (payments were $384) He said there was nothing he could do so I walked out. Any advice on the whole monthly payments issue? I really want a WRX ASAP but I won't pay more then $300 a month for 60 months.

If I were you I'd hit up a credit union and get your financing straightened out before you go to a dealer. That way your interest rates are clear, your term of loan is clear and if they have the total of the vehicle you intend to buy they can give you an idea of your payments. And all of this is BEFORE you go to a dealer.

Then, once you get all that hooked up, go to a different dealership. If you want white, get white. The Subaru website even lists "Aspen White" as an available color for 2004, so don't let them bs you just so they can get a sale. You want white, get white.

Good luck.

Word sonicsuby.

It is tough to pass judgement on the monthly payments since there are so many variables. If you are only putting down a few thousand dollars on a new WRX, your payment will be close to $400 a month... even with 3.9% financing. Like sonicsuby said... if you can get your financing straightened out prior to going to the dealer, you will have a better shot at walking away with a hassle free deal.

Good luck.

I'd see if you can get a WRX from another dealer. This one sounds shady. Definitely have your money worked out before you get there.

Sounds like you've got a fairly nice down payment if you are wanting payments under $300. I put down about $3500 for my 2004 WRX and my payments are about $370 for 60 months.

Yes, don't let them get you thinking only about the monthly payment. You also might want to sell your old car on your own to get more $$$$, then go to the dealer. This eliminates the advantage they have to confuse you with the trade-in.

With rebate I got them to 23k and I put down 4700 on it. With 3.9% my payments are 345 a month so I think you better have a lot more to put down then I or have a nice trade in. Also if you are so concerned with the payment being over 300 have you looked at what your insurance is going to be like?

My buddie just bought a '04. He put 5k down, 3.9%apr, 60 months. His credit score was over 600. He is paying $340/month. I don't think it is possible to get one for $300/month unless you have a big down payment.
