Question Void Warranty By Porting Wastegate

Can warranty become void if the wastegate is ported on a stock turbo? Of course the only reason to do this would be if a down pipe is installed, so would this also void the warranty?

It depends what you expect to be covered. They will still fix your AC under warranty even if you have a down-pipe. However, they will probably void engine/powertrain coverage if they considered you have been tampering with the engine.

Put yourself into their shoes. If you sold a car to a guy and he modifies the engine and it subsequently blows up, you would probably refuse coverage as well.

warranty coverage is greatly situational, do you do all of your maintenance/oil changes at the dealership that you bought the vehicle at? If so, due to the constant business you bring them, they may "overlook" the fact that you have mods, provided its not blatant that your mods caused the failure.

It's all up to the dealer but truthfully, I don't think they'd ever be able to tell if your wastegate was ported.

I agree with your reasoning. Just curious about anyone's experience with dealers. I would think that they may be a bit lenient since subaru sells quite a few upgrades for these cars. Wishful thinking I guess.

Thanks
