Rotten egg odor
I have a 2004 2.5 RS with 10,000 km that produces a fowl rotten egg or sewage odor from the exhaust system or catalytic converter after short trips in the city.
The car produces the odor after the engine is shut down. the local dealer changed the front oxygen sensor and that seemed to help for 2 or 3 weeks but now it is doing it again on a daily basis.
We are being cautious as what kind of fuel being used, using Esso gas.
Does anyone know of a fix?
your help would be greatly appreciated as it is embarassing to have a smelly car.
thanks

It could be that your catyletic convertor(s) are going out.
Drivers that have catless cars sometimes smell like rotten eggs. The 02 sensor may have been the cause of it being covered in carbon and not reading correctly, but after that many miles the catyletic convertors should not be going. Go to the dealer and tell them to thoughly inspect the exaust system
