Prob with WRX?

I've noticed on the used WRX I picked up in May that it's burning oil. I thought initially it was an isolated incident with first oil change as found low about 2000kms before oil change. Found when got oil change that Subaru dealership where I bought the car had the wrong oil filter. But now it's down again and needed 1/2 liter to fill to level. Have a friend that know a little about cars and noted a couple of things: 1) exhaust pipe has a lot of carbon in it. 2) could faintly smell oil in the carbon from the exhaust. 3) doesn't seem to be a problem with the valves (tried to see if there was a vaccum from the exhaust that might indicate a problem.) Am going to take this into the dealership when due in about 1500kms. Should I take it in earlier or not be too concerned? It's a 2003 with about 63000kms 5sp. i got it at about 52000kms and do drive it a little hard, but not at least until up to temp unless emergenty (like almost getting rear ended). No racing or stuff like that, but then again I don't know how the last driver handled it.

Its hard to relate km to miles

I suppose if some raced the living **** out of it you could see wear in the engine or turbo to cause oil burn.

If its under warrenty and still stock you could always just take it in.

it's about 2.2 km to the mile. Yea it's still under warranty, I was just wondering if it's something I should get looked at immediately or can wait until next oil change (about 750 miles)

your car will first be put on a oil consumption test to see how much oil is lost.please keep us up to date.as i myself have not come across one yet with internal oil consumption.

I'm just wondering if someone messed with an mbc and managed to damage the turbo or rings.

Um, I think you are confusing pounds and Kg ,

1.61 km = 1.00 miles

Called Subaru, looks like I made a basic mistake, checked the oil while it was hot. Checked when cold, is at normal level.

If you can, check the spark plugs and see if they're fouled up with oil. That's one way to check if you have internal cumbustion oil leak. Just a thought, good luck.
