Unhappy ice prob

with this wicked storm in Ontario I drove to a friends place (no did not play in the snow, just normal driving) but with only half the snowplows on the road there were drifts I had to drive through. Car sat in the lot for about 5 hours then on the drive home noticed a shudder when letting out the clutch and if accelerated/decelerated on the road. Checked fluids....... fine.
noticed ice buildup around driveshaft by joint near rear axle (not a mechanic CV/u joint, don't know the name) knocked some ice around joint out but am worried about any ice around casing for shaft. Any ideas on how to clear it out. Am supposed to drive in about 7 hours and hoping it will melt a little but if not, is there any quick fixes?
