Let me start by saying I love my '02 WRX.....however, I will never again buy a brand new model before all the kinks are worked out. I have the now familiar fuel leak in cold weather that many '02's are afflicted with. Not going to fix it now. Here is my latest problem. My CEL has been going on and off sporadically for 1.5 years now but I have never noticed a problem with the car. It has 79K miles on it currently with COBB cat back and K&N. I know, almost not worth mentioning. At 4K RPM under acceleration the car noticeably looses power and doesn't pull as strong to redline. It's still drivable but lacking in the fun department. I cant remember if the plugs were changed in my 60K service or not. It idles fine also. Was hoping for some insight before I get dragged over the coals by the mechanic.

 

so your cars telling you something is wrong by showing you the engine light,but yet you dont want to have that checked.have the code checked and ill tell you the fault and some other things that need to be done that we have been coming across.
