Please any ideas?? power loss
Hey all....Just got a 03 WRX sedan about a month ago. It is up too 845 miles now. I have always taken it easy on her following the breck in guidlines. Occasionally going bout half throttle up to 4000 rpm.....just enough to get the turbo to start spoolin up a little. At anyrate..at about 820 miles took it up too about 4500-4900 rpm for the first time still not under full throttle but had to give it a little cause my freind said these cars were kinda slow and wanted him too feel that even short shifting it under 5000 rpm its still a quick little car. Im horrified i screwed somthin up somhow....it seems like its not near as pepy as it was before. Still runs and idles super good...no noises or warning lights or anything obveous, just in my opinion doesent have the nice little half throttle slight boost pull it had before. Could i have ruined somthin? i know im still 165 miles away from a full breck in, but strikes me as odd this may have hurt the car. please any opinions on this?? i was lovin the car up too this point,..now im scared its never gonna be the same...by the way...obviously still all stock...thx guys.

Dont worry be happy
Dude, no need to trip. 500 miles would be ok, the factory puts semi broken in rings in the car anyways. I seen guys go to the drag strip the day they bought there REX's. Warm your motor up for 5 min everytime the engine is cool, and buy a turbo timer, or sit in your car for3-5 min after running it hard. That is much harder on the rings than running it hard just for a min or 2 with 0 miles on it. Heat is your worst enemy. Don't get it to hot, to fast. You need to let it cool down as well, or you will cook your oil, and your STOCK turbo has no bearings, so it SUCKS, but you got to live with that for now, so if you want it to live for awhile drive slow last 5 miles home and let the car sit for 3-5 min, even with a good turbo. One last thing, pull your negitive batt cable off and press on the brake for 10 seconds, then put your battery cable back on, and DRIVE hard, bounce it off the rev limiter a couple of times and go through 3-4 gears fast as you can a few times, like 15 or 20 or tell to cops show up......just kidding. That reset your ECU and give you all your power back, from driving slow. The computer learns how you drive and adjusts it self for that, and what your car can handle, and USE 93 OCTANE or better . Just with good gas and reset your ecu, you could get 15-30 hp maybe more if you life close to sea level. PEACE OUT

Thanks Man
Thanks so much for the reply, was really worried that i had screwed somthing up. I did just reset the ecu in hopes it would put things back to normal and it helped out alot. Still doesent feel as snappy as before but im starting to think its in my mind, lol. At anyrate didnt see your reply on driving it harder like that soon enough so its prolly right back in granny mode, but fortunaltly unlike me in school it has the ability to learn j/k thanks much again Peace.
