Power Loss
I've had my car for about 7 days now and it seems like it isn't pulling as hard. The boost peaks about the same as it did from the start, but it doesn't seem like it is comming on as strong when I do a 2nd or 3rd gear pull as is did from the start. Should I look for some kind of leak, or try resetting the ECU? I don't think that I should be that used to the power already. Even my GF said that it doesn't hold her back in the seat as hard as it used to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

hmmm, I can feel a difference also when I use a different gas but Im sure you know that already. You can try resetting the ecu, but have you modified the car or done something to offset the ECU? You said you have had the car for only 7 days, so Im going to assume that it is a used car because I would hate to think that you would be boosting a brand new car without breaking it in first. Perhaps have done a significant amount of driving at the same speed and the ecu has gotten used to static driving instead of dynamic driving (e.g. varying speeds). Im not an expert, but I am a member of the club and I do my best to help. Perhaps you have been forgetting and using 87 octane instead of the reccomended 91. Otherwise I dont know, Im thinking the weather is cold so hot air would not be an issue. My final thought is maybe the car has not had a chance to fully warm up before you are boosting, it is cold where you are. Personally, I never felt boost in 2nd and 3rd was that spectacular. After the excitement of first gear, everything else seems dull in comparison. Hope I was able to help, if not I at least get an "A" for effort.
i assume we're talking about a wrx here.
an interesting thing in the owner's manual (at least mine, for a my03) is that in any of the ventilation "modes" containing a defroster output, the ac compressor WILL BE ON, regardless of whether the indicator light is on on the dash or not. it also states that the compressor will be taken off line IF WOT is occuring, but at partial throttle the solenoid will still be engaged. this can drop you 5-10 hp easy.

It is a new car and it is not modded? I'm not beating it. I just do some 2nd and 3rd gear pulls from time to time. It just seems like the hit from the boost is not as strong as it initially was when I first got it. I'm going to get a different brand of gas today and see if that makes a diff.
wish i could help. I have always felt the same way as you. Just like you, my 2nd and 3rd gear do not seem to be as strong as before. I noticed this a few weeks after getting my car and i was so worried about it, i took it to 3 different dealers and everything checked out fine.
I have had my car over a year and have just lived with it. My car seems fast, but it just does not have that rush as before. There have been a few posts on the different forums about this. Some people say that they are just getting use to it. I believe there is something more to it. There are just to many variables and nothing is OBVIOUSLY broken or loose.
I have actually thought maybe the car is just broken in and the power is now coming on more smoothly.

It's really hard to keep it under 4k. I admit. I usually go up to 5k. This is my 3rd turbo car. When my Audi or VW seemed to start lacking, I would reset the ECU. I had a VAG to do that then though. I'm really not sure how to do it on the WRX. I read about disconnecting the battery and pushing the break pedal in, but with my other cars people said to do that same thing and my tuner (Garret Lim) said that would do absolutely nothing and to get a VAG. Is there some kind of interface to the WRX like a VAG Tool? Could the ECU be yanking out some timing or something? I'm still seeing the same amount of boost.
Thanx
