Hey hey be nice
hahaha, jm, but I like the way it looks a lot more than a WRX (no offense obviously), although its growing on me, I am having a hard time going for the wrx mainly because my car has huge back seats and everyone including chicks tell me its an ugly car and that they like mine better , but I rather drive the car with more ***** when it comes down to it.

[B] Yeah, I know the whole year depreciation deal, although I got 1000 off buying a 02(instead of 03) Turbo Honda PWC, I would expect more off from a car.
I am gonna go to Irvine Subaru, you live in OC you know where it is, I was over there the other day but just looked at the cars on the front lot and just eyein the STi, what a sweet ride, but for 30k, I rather get a Mustang Cobra.
Hot rod magazine tested these 2 cars against eachother and the STI beat it in all compitition but top speed (STI 145mph, cobra 155mph). On the road course the STI was 2.7 seconds faster (It was driven by a guy that had no experience with AWD). after alittle more than 30 laps the STI would be lapping the cobra. You also have to remember the cobra is made by ford, it isnt equipt with AWD and it costs around $3000 more. I have an 02 wrx with 43k and it has been a great car. I have noticed people complaining about problems with the 04. search some of the other threads and you will see what Im talking about. Buy a WRX and you wont regret it. good luck.

Yeah yeah I read that article too. I dont want to turn this into a huge debate but here goes.
*Rear wheel drive will always be superior to AWD when racing
-If you dont believe me, find a stock AWD car that has a higher skidpad than a Z06....McLaren (obviously these cost a little more, but I am just proving a point)
-Stock for stock though, the STI does out handle the Cobra, but for comparision sakes I am just saying AWD doesnt = superior,
*Mustang is easier to get 600hp out of, change blower and turn up boost, also for drag racing the RWD setup can handle way more power.
-I know this stuff can be changed on an STI, but at a certain extent the Cobra will just be making more HP because of displacement.
*As far as it being a "ford", I always will defend Ford, a few of my buddies have/had them and beat the **** out of them day after day, driving harder than I have driven my cars and well they last. People say they are unreliable, I think they are some of the best cars on the road, but this could be them since they maintained them. My friends 2000 GT hits redline a few times a day since it was new, 60k miles and it still will pull an S2000 no problem.
Personal Preference, after seeing the STI in person, it is a SWEET ride, the brakes and wheels look awesome, anything above there and it just keeps getting better, but I always will be die hard muscle fan....
But now its just a matter of selling my heap and hopefully jumpin into a sweet wrx.

Here's my take on everthing that was said. I have an 03 wrx. (stage 4 now) When it was new had some fuel pruge valve bull**** problem, but after the dealer fixed it that was that and have had no problem since. When you go to buy it make sure you go to a mod friendly dealer,(not a problem in CA) I live in maryland and my dealer Herd-Gordon, Mile One, is the biggest azz dealer in the freaken world.(they didn't want to warrenty my fuel purge thing at first becuase I had aftermarket guages, like that effects my fuel tank) And to add to neenjafus comment about haveing fun on your test drive, take more then one and don't have to much fun a guy from the dealership I bought my car from flipped a rex in a test drive 3 time like 4 hours before I got there.(he only scrapped his elbow) After seeing the car and then finding out that the both the 2 people in the car were not hurt I knew it must be safe. So do your homework and get something that your like.
Addtionally, I am making around 305 at the wheels and not haveing any tranny problems yet so if you are staying stock I wouldn't think you will have any problems. Also, the fuel purge thing was fixed(so they tell me) on the 04's, they said it is an ecm problem with it interfacing with the valve I had in my gas tank. It is a long story.
Good luck.
I Can't Spell And I Know It, But I Can Drive Like I Stole It

on an 03 it depends who you buy from. I'm in the same boat, looking for a used one to save money. A friend got an 04 for 23k as a favor from a friend. But if you go private seller you can get an 03 with like 17xxx miles for around 18G's. I'd say $6k is a big difference. I have noticed dealers are trying to sell 03 wrx's for $20-22 and i think that's BS and theyre looking for suckers. Every private seller i've seen doesn't break 19k. The only WRX im looking at for 20k has an aftermarket motor (2.2L) with 300 whp and it only has 5k miles on the motor. So if you go private you'll save a ton. If you can afford a new one i would do it because only you will know how it has been treated and that is priceless.
