New WRX Sport Wagon
I'm looking for info on an '04 Subaru WRX Sports Wagon, and what kind of payments I can expect for one. I went on the Subaru website and it estimated around $400 for an (almost) optionless model, and thats a bit too rich for my blood right now. Can I expect any rebates/deals on this car, or a low APR? Any info you could give me before I walk into the dealership to snoop around would be appreciated!
Do your homework
I bought my 2004 WRX wagon for $21,800 with a bunch of dealer add on crap that I didn't want anyway (ugraded speakers, sub, cargo mat, mirror, etc) Dealers hate to order a "stipper" from anywhere and would much rather sell you what they have on the lot.
Interest rates are low now (expect 3.5 to 3.9 if you have good credit). Check Subaru.com for dealer rebates.
Go to www.edmunds.com for find True Market Value and dealer invoice. See what others are paying. Always get as close to or below invoice if you can. 3% over invoice is considered a "fair" deal if they're not raping you on your trade-in. Never pay MSRP sticker.
Before you deal, have all your ducks in a row. Know what invoice is and what your trade in value is (if you have one). Have your financing in place (get pre-approved). The dealer might be able to beat your rate (mine did...all the better). Go to a dealer who's looking to move product (i.e. 10 WRX wagons on the lot vs. the shop who has one)
Good luck!!

What am I looking at as far as payments? I doubt my APR will be very low due to the fact that I still have 'new' credit.. I'm only 19. Would I be better off financing through a bank or through the dealership?
Edmunds
Go to www.edmunds.com and use their payment calculator.
Plug in some hypotheticals: price of vehicle, trade value, interest rate, tax. And see what you come up with.
Always try to get rates from a bank first. If the dealer can beat it than all the better.
You're probably looking at around $360/month at least.

Anyone know when the end of Subaru's model year is? Maybe I can pick up a better deal when they try to clear the lots of '04 models...

Your monthly insurance premiums could knock the car right out of your price range. I imagine your agent will see $$$$$$$ when you try to insure this car

and even though they say "stipper" model... seriously there is nothing "stipped" about it... grant it you might not get the roof racks, diff cover, premium sound(which by the way is overpriced-go crutchfield). . . but .. woooooo
my payments are 387 a month. paid my insurance in full(year) so i don't have to worry about monthly payments
happy shopping!
Subaru is offering 1.9 apr for 60 months or was it 63 months, I am in Ca. I got a quote from my local allstate and they said I will be paying about 800-900 a year, I am 32 with no tix or accidents.
