Need some advice

I'm looking to buy a used WRX sedan. I only want to spend about $16k. The problem I have is that for $16k I just can't find a good deal. The ones I've looked at at dealers have way too high milage or are simply in poor shape for this price. My other choice is to go with a private seller but from what I've heard it will be harder to get a loan outside of a dealership. What do you guys sugguest I do?

KBB lists 2002 WRX's (you didnt specify a year) at $17,500 w/ 62000 (average mileage for 2002 WRX per KBB) in excellent condition, if you were to buy from a dealer

Or the same car but a private party sale would be $15,030.

Though looking at the local search results for such a car, there is a silver wagon (near chico ca) with 53,500 miles going for $14,200

Oh, and I've had the best luck going through a credit union for loans

Want a good used WRX try Carmax, they'll ship any car in their inventory to your area. And they have a 3 day return policy, who else has that?

Carmax has some really clean cars, but their prices tend to be a bit higher. But they have a vary helpful staff and they get those cars looking factory new.
