My Ultimate WRX

ok i dont have pics nor do i have the car. i am currently driving a 2004 Berlina Black S2000 but i would LOVE to get a WRX for a future ride. please give me some info and feeback on my idea here. a 2004 (5) White WRX (non STi) with sunroof, but not the whole premium pack. i want the STi fog light covers, and side splitters for the front bumper. STi painted sideskirts and maybe hood scoop (i know it looks like im trying to make my own STi but i really just like the aero parts on it, i think it makes the impreza look much more aggressive) and possibly some of the MY05 darker headlights. i want a prodrive axel back exhaust, nothing fancy and either the snorkel remove of the stock air box or an aftermarket short ram (dont know what kind yet). i would really like to get the Cobb Stg 1 reflash as well to unlock a little more power from the car. i know i dont know much about it yet but i hope you all can appreciate my interest in these wonderful cars and possibly give me some tips as to what i can do to possibly make my future ride look clean. p.s. dont want any wings and i am interested in some gold rims for this white beauty, or maybe the optional sivler bbs wheels... sound good?

Man, lighten up d00d. Never once did he use the ghetto type like you just displayed and he doesn't sound ricey at all with what he wants.
The guy just wants opinions on what he has laid out. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed!

Skatemur, I think that sounds like a pretty nice plan but I would then suggest a Up-pipe and a Down-Pipe and the Cobb Stg 2 Reflash. And stay away from the intakes and just go with the silencer mod and a nice Panel filter. That should get you movin pretty nice!

I say go with the white WRX, that is the color I have, and I love it! It all sounds like a good plan, but the most important thing is that you like it. Oh, and if you go with the Aspen White for the car color, don't go with silver rims, stick with the gold. It looks way better, and in my personal opinion, silver rims don't look all that impressive on white cars....

not to hate on your plan... but honestly, if you are going to do mods to a wrx, you might as well get a sti. there is no point in getting a wrx if you are going to do mods. think about it: 2.5L, 6-speed transmission (which is much strong than the 5-speed), brembos, diffs, interior... etc. the difference in price is more than worth just buying an sti. i have a wrx, and if were to do it again i would go with the sti without hesitating.

On the surface, the STi is a better value, but there are two major reasons buying a standard WRX and upgrading it can be a good idea. 1) Initial costs are lower. He can buy a WRX for less money, and then upgrade as he comes across more money. Instead of $30+k right away he can spend just $23k and spend 5 or 6 hundred bucks here or there. 2) and the ONLY reason I didn't buy an STi (other than the fact they don't come in yellow ) is the cost of insurance. I don't know how old skatemur is, but being under 25 myself the insurance on an STi was just silly compared to a standard WRX (which is already high enough.) However an upgraded WRX carries the same insurance rates.

plus, some people just prefer to mod. Why do people buy STis and EVOs and mod the crap out of them to make them compete with the likes of Z06s when a used Z06 is less money? To some peopel it's just not fun to buy a ready-made end product that they have had no input on.

i understand where your coming from chris. but to me it doesnt make sense. mostly because of the transmission the sti comes with, and all the differentials and gizmos. to me its so worth just buying the sti. but i understand people like to mod their cars themselves... i am one of them. i just dont like the new style impreza compared to the bugeyes... imho.
good luck... and have fun.

I definitely suggest a white WRX. I would also get an 02-03 (gotta love the bug-eyes!). You'll also save a lot of money for getting it used... and other than a few little bugs, you won't have any serious problems with an old car.
After/Before buying it, I'd get a Cobb Accessport. Get a K&N high-flow in filter and samco I/C hoses. I would then get a Helix D/P.... and a cusco rear sway bar.
That will cost $1100.... according to Cobb+Samco, you'll have 292 HP.... 0-60 in 4.6 and 13.4 1/4 mile.....

Needless to say.... that's what I did/am doing! In total, I've spent $18K... couldn't be happier

OOPS... I didn't even answer that right question.... make it look clean?.... clear side markers, painted skirts, and de-badge the back.... (Leave the WRX.... warning: people will think you are driving a Honda)
