loss of power in between 4k and 5k in an 04 wrx

when i 'm driving hard and in wot between 4k and 5k there seems to be a little power loss and then it seems to pick back up after 5k . Has any one ever had this problem befor ?

yeah i had the same loss happen right at 5k on the tach 2nd,3rd,4th gear but it seamed to go away after a little while not really sure what was going on but after a little hard driving it went away

Same problem with my '04, I don't think it's uncommon for the 2004 WRX.

I had this problem, it comes from clutch wear and or gears with missing teeth. The clutch slips at higher loads they said.

They "fixed" mine and everything was dandy for another 300 miles, until FIRST GEAR BROKE!!!

I had something like this when I got a tank of bad gas. Somebody put 87 in the 91 tank. It went away after running the tank empty and filling up with Chevron.

How many miles are on the car?? I heard the ECU adapts to driver input...My WRX comes alive after a couple of acceleration pulls, then the engine seems to "wake up" and performance seems to bump up a couple of notches...Maybe it's just me. Anybody have the same experience???

I only have around 2k miles on mine but it's been happening since day one. This really seems to be a problem here. Please read the attached links. There is a ton of info on what's going on. Please post and share your thoughts on those forums as well as here to make people more aware of what is going on. Thanks

the loss of power between 4k and 5k miles is due to a dirty wastegate. I had that same problem and took it to the shop, they cleaned the waste gate and it hasn't happened since then.

How can I have a dirty wastegate when the car only has 1k mikes on it? If you visit the links you will see that there is a serious problem. There are tests showing det. and running lean. Please visit the links. Thanks
