Hi all.
I'm thinking of getting rid of my '04 Nissan 350z to get a '05 WRX or an '04 STI. I just thought I'd do some research on 'em before I made the decision.
Also, I'm 19 y.o. will my insurance company be raping my wallet?
TIA for any replies.
peace

well given that you are already paying for an 04 you shouldn't see to much of a difference. Also depending on where you live you may get a discount on the suby because of the all wheel drive, and because they are four door five person cars not two door sports cars. The best way to know for sure is to just call your insurance company and ask what the rates will be. By the way if you are coming off of a 300 hp car you should move to another ie the STI, but that is my opinion. Good luck.

Yes, call your insurance company for a quote. Call other insurance companies, too. You can also find an insurance broker that might be able to do the legwork for you for a nominal fee. There isn't one 'best' insurance company for every driver and every car.

i am 20 and the lowest decent coverage for my 02 wrx i could get was progressive...
$2400 a year!!!!
and i know what you're thinking, I have NO TICKETS, a CLEAN LISCENSE, and NO ACCIDENTS. Its all the location though, I tried the same specs for a jetta and it was about $400 cheaper a year (not that significant considering the cost). Just hope you live in a nice, safe, suburban neighborhood...not right on pacific coast hwy.

I was just car shopping and both of those were the top 2 on my list. (got the wrx). Strangly enough, a WRX has higher insurence then a 350z for me it was about a 200 dollar difference a year. I'm 22.
turbo
the turbo affects the insurance with many carriers. Even though the Z has more HP than a WRX, it may insure better. If you want to save a bunch on your insurance, get a wagon. I couldn't believe it, but when I bought mine, it was $400 a year cheaper for wagon than sedan.
I pay 360/month for my 04 STi. I am 23/Single Male/California.
I have a bad record - they even sent me the letter that warns me if I get one more ticket I can have my lic. revoked or suspended.
I was paying 300ish for my 01 Civic Ex (which the insurance classified as an Si) When I was insuring both cars, I was paying like 550ish. When I dropped my civic, the insurance dropped by over 1/2. Then I raised my limits.

I must just be lucky, but for my 2002 WRX, minimally insured, is $918 a YEAR with CSAA, 34 years old, clean record, also insure home with them (10% discount).
For all you young lads, this is good thing to consider when you are street racing... :-)
