It's leaking oil from the left side of the engine right above the spark plugs. Anyone have a clue what that might be?

It could be the o rings around you spark plug boots, when you pull the plug boots out are they covered in oil? Agreed that a pic would help.

Valve cover gaskets? How many miles you have? if around 100k-120k they generally need to be replaced. Mine have been leaking for a bit getting it fixed soon.

I'm almost 100% sure it's either that gasket between valve cover and that plastic breather or just your valve cover gasket.

And that's something I'm going to have to take it to Subaru to get fixed because the auto shops around here don't have anything

Where are you located. A suburu dealership will rape you for this. I would recommend one of the local shops of you are in nor cal.

I was immeadiately thinking valve cover gasket as well but it's so hard without seeing the leak.

If you are mechanically inclined, just do it yourself. I did mine and it was very easy.
