Green Valley Subaru (Fairfield)

I am on the market for '05 STi. Broken Arrow referred me to Brad at Green Valley Soob. I called him several times and the price he quoted was no better than at the other dealerships around. It wasn't for a pre-order, but for the car hanging on the lot.
Brad indicated that coming down to them might yeld good results. So, what the hell, I went there. Almost 100 miles away, from the Silicon Valley.
At the spot Brad, actually a cool guy, said that he couldn't do much about price ***** aka management and left me negotiating with them. ***** struck me with even higher price ($2k over) than I've been quoted before... I clearly indicated that I am willing to let them gain only $1k on me not counting mfg kickbacks. They failed to understand sticking to their original $1.5k over plan. I left.
Really, I expected something more advanced from this praised dealer, something like what you'd expect from Santa Cruz. Frankly I had better luck negotiating with Diablo Soob of Walnut Creek.
I think at this point I'd rather order a custom configuration at Santa Cruz and wait.

wait a minute.........green valley subaru in fairfield SUCKS, u should have never went there. that place has a couple sales persons who dont know jack sh+t about subarus. when i was there a few months back they had all the subaru's in the back of the dealership and the mazda's at the front and in the showroom. we must have been looking at the subbies for about 20 minutes as all the sales persons were across the street at the other part of the dealership. we finally had to walk across the street to even get any service, and then when we did the sales person knew nothing, and was asking the manager are questions, and he knew nothing as well. so we finally just left in disbelief.c but hey, i guess two or three people got lucky there.

Why not? The wait is 4-6 weeks. Fairfield had the car I liked. Santa Cruz will be easier and cheaper by about $500.
Green Valley called me again yesterday. Just to brainwash and offer the same thing. I have no idea what for. I think I was unambiguous in my offer the other day.

Let me tell you how Green Valley SUCKS. When I applied and started negotiating, Brad told me one thing one day. Then the next day, some other guy calls me and says that he is the sales manager and that whatever Brad said was not accurate. So the rate magically went up a whole point. I work for a finance company and have a copy of my current credit report. So whatever they said about my credit was total BS. At first they didn't require a down payment, but then they wanted $3000 and they wanted me to pay off my trade. The sales guy who test drove the car with me didn't really even know jack about Subarus, except that they are turbo. They told me that I would have a hard time finding any STi's elsewhere. But I managed to find 7 at Diablo Subaru in Walnut Creek, for a better price. They were totally cool, no BS. It took me an hour to tell them what I wanted, they gave it to me, I signed the docs, done deal. It's funny, cuz three days after I had gone to Green Valley, I was at Diablo signing paperwork - my brother told me that Brad had been calling my house all that day leaving messages that they were willing to work a deal. Then he caught me at home the next day and I straight up told him that I already bought the STi from Diablo because they didn't mess around.

lol... i searched just about every local dealership, only stevens creek actually had any in stock (i think carlsen had a silver one, and oakland had a white one, and both are asking for msrp).
i got albany to offer 1500 off msrp, which is i believe what santa cruz is offering. i also did this internet test drive thing with stevens creek, and they will do 1000 off msrp, but due to their god awful reputation, i'm deeply afraid to actually buy from them. which goes back to orginial problem of availability. stevens creek had 9 STi on the first shippment, santa cruz had only 2, and both were sold within days, now the wait list starts.
i would wait, but interest rates to expected to be rising, wait until end of year to knock off 500-1000 bucks, but pay it all back in interest.
decisions... decisions...

Subaru in Napa has had a silver '05 STi out front for about 2 weeks. (Last time I saw it was this past Saturday. Don't know if it's still there. ) If so, maybe it's b/c they won't go under the $33,000 sticker price. You might wanna check with them.
