Not really, the manual says to disconnect the battery for just about everything. The important thing when replacing the fuel filter is to depressurize the fuel system first to reduce the residual pressure in the lines. There will be less pressure if the car has been sitting overnight and not started, but even then it's a good idea to remove the gas cap, unplug the fuel pump relay (green connector under passenger side dash) and crank the engine. It will start and die, repeat the process a couple of times until it won't start any more. Even after doing this there may still be some pressure in the lines so have a rag handy when you go to take the hoses off.
