This Is Crap (CV issues)
my local subaru dealer wont replace my F/L cv because my inner cv boot was torn. how the hell was i supposed to see that from the outside of my car? i didnt even know there was a problem until it started clicking. so they soaked me for 80 bucks just to check it out and now they want another 650 or so to fix it. has anyone else ever had this problem or heard of it? I truly belive this is the biggest crock of $h!t i have heard in a long time.

"Axle shaft and/or CVJ damage due to broken, torn, split or damaged boots, allowing the intrusion of road abrasive material, is not coverable under warranty."
It should be noted in your warranty booklet.

Have you had all of the scheduled maintenance done? Has the dealer done it?
If they've had the car on the lift regularly and didn't catch the break, they might be a little understanding. A really good attitude and a little whimpering would be in order.
If no to either or both questions, well, you can't really expect them to eat the cost for someone else's mistake.

This is always a problem with front-drive. You should get in the habit of looking under the car every month or so or whenever you may have hit a road hazard. Look for thick black grease around the boots, there ar 4 of them, one at each inside(transmission) side of drive shafts and one each side of wheel end of front drive shaft. Torn boots should be replaced quickly as this may negate need to replace CV joint. black grease may be leaking from an otherwise invisible torn boot. Usually will take 3-6 months for CV to get to the clicking failure point so inspection will catch tears early. Replace is usually $500-$700! Sorry for your loss, but it has happened to me too.
