Break in Period for STI's
I know this has prob. been discussed. Just curious. Approx. how many miles did you guys wait before stepping on it in your STI's. I had an 03 EVO and did not get on it past 5000 rpm for 3k miles. My tranny and clutch ran perfect everyday before I sold at 25,000 miles. I even launched pretty hard about 20 times with 6k drops.
Looking to purchase STI soon. Thanks.

Most dealers recommend 1000 miles for Subaru break-ins. Some will tell you to drive it like you stole right off the lot. The 1000 mile break-in usually involves staying under 4000 rpm for those 1000 miles.
It's pretty hard to do and most people gradually work up to redline by 1000 miles. For instance, I stayed under 4000 for 500 miles, under 5000 for the next 250, and then under 5500 for the last 250.
