antenna/ radio issues

I put a 5% tint on my back window and I noticed that I barely receive any AM stations. I cannot recall if I received AM stations before, since I never checked it when I bought my wrx. I asked the dealership to check it out and it turns out that the antenna is working so that rules out the possibility off the antenna getting cut from the tint install. They told me that the 5% tint is interfering with the reception and that it is not a warranty issue. Anyone out there experience problems with their tint and radio receptions? Or if they can verify that the tint can indeed interfere with the reception? Thanks.

Tint can definitely interfere with reception, especially AM. Nicer tints tend to have a metallic portion to them (I'm not very technical) but basically the metallic stuff interferes with the antenna. I found out about this AFTER getting the tint as well, got so frustrated that I had it taken off and found a shop that uses a tint film that has some ceramic material (?) anyway, supposedly it's just as nice but doesn't interfere (cost a hell of a lot though. . .)

You could drill a hole in the roof and convert to an external antenna. . .I think I've actually seen a how-to for this online.

It's a Subaru, that's what's wrong with the stock radio lol
If it wasn't for the Aux input I would've replaced mine already

It was the white wire on stereo plug that is the power for the amplify antenna. I connected it and all my channels came in clear hd quality . go to web site Subaru WRX radio harness pin-out they will show you the wires and what years its good for

atleast you had aux inputs cause mine didnt and what the problem with my AFTERMARKET deck the power lead to the antenna wasnt connected when the installed the deck. I looked it up on a couple web sitess and there is a white wire that goes to the antenna that needed to be hooked up for reception. I did it and all my problems where solved
