Antennae

I would like to modify my antennae so that I have the quality of reception that I get when it is up, but I don't want to have it up or ever have to put it up.

I'm thinking it might work to wire it to the car so that the whole car acts as an antennae or I might be able to get some strips that go on my windshield and act as an antennae.

Any ideas?

Edit: Just figured out 2004s dont have em, so by the way, mine is an 02

You can get an amplified antenna that will mount on the windshield or under the dash. I have tried to wire the antenna to the car, but only the AM is picked up.

Thanks.
Can I just get that at my local Kragen or AutoZone?

Edit: Is this it?

Nothing works better for automotive AM or FM reception than the old standard whip antenna. I've had cars with the glass mounted antennas, but they never seemed to have the gain or the favorable omidirectional characteristics of the whips. An RF amp may be the best way for you to go.

The whip on my 03 WRX Sedan will wobble about and make noise at freeway speeds if it's fully extended. So, I usually keep it at about half mast. I reach out the window and yank it out if I need better reception.

I have used Bosch windshield antenna bought from Singapore, and it works perfect. The antenna is amplified and you can barely see the antenna when applied on the windshield. I am not sure where you can get them, but I know it works good.

Did you get the antenna amplifier along with the window?

Yes. To be honest, I'm still waiting to do the install but it's all ready to go.

Ant

I wanted a nicer functioning and looking antennae as well. I like the old 16v Fuba (GTI VW) roof mount, but wanted to keep it in the family. If your willing to cut a hole in your roof for it, maybe the roof mount antennae off of the Baja Turbo would work. Probably not price friendly for a couple of years.
