Sounds like an electrical malfunction such as map sensor being improperly read or whatever, but that just a guess.

Honestly a friend of mine owns the 04' wrx for about 4 months now and never had one problem with it. Since i helped install alot of the aftermarket parts the thing puts down an estimated 300hp and still runs like a champ on 91 octane. Maybe you got a bad ecu batch like accessport port did awhile back when they were stepping up production Sucks that your not in you car now but at least they're working on it for free

I have an 04' and had a similar problem today. Its was warm (around 85F) and car had been sitting for a few hours. I took several attempts to get the car started. It turned over fine but just wouldn't start. This is the first time it's happered (2500mi) so I'm not concerned...yet.

If your car has been running hard for a while, you go to restart it and it wont start then you might be the victim of heat soak. Your starter can get super-heated and this will prevent it from operating properly. I used to own a vette and when I would run it engine temp got up to 221 before the thermostat kicked the fan on. Needless to say it was quite hot and the starter suffered from this dillema until i bought a heat shield.

I had the same situation, but from cold starts... the engine wouldnt turn for a 2-3 tries and then it would turn and that would be it.

during the summer now, runs perfectly fine and just once it didnt turn but on the second try, turned and now it never happened again.
i have about 14,000 miles and no mods (since its still on a freakin boat from japan!, been waiting 5 months) !!!
