Has anyone else had computer problems with their wrx?
the same night i bought my car the check engine light came on and it only had about 120 miles on it. The dealership said that they were going to have to re-flash the computer but when i picked it up the next week they had replaced the entire catalytic converter instead. About 800 miles later the check engine light came on again and I was told the same thing, that the computer needed to be sent to subaru to be reflashed. i called them last friday to check the status of it and they said that they replaced the O2 sensor and that did not fix the problem. As i type the district service manager is at the dealership working on my car in an attempt to remedy the problem. anybody else experiencing this?

i know about the lemon law. i am just worried that they will say the check engine light came on for different reasons because i do not have the actual codes that the computer was giving out stating the problem. i am so mad though. it is the first subaru i have had and it only has 2000 miles on it. i have put more miles on it with the check engine light on then with it off. it is very frustrating!

First I would demand the codes from all of your visits. I can't see any reason why they don't keep that on record somewhere. I know that the ECU re-flash is a remedy for certain codes. Next I would take the car back and tell them that the issue is not closed and take it to Carlsen in Redwood City and have Kevin work on your car.
just curious, have you actually asked them why then have not re-flashed if they said they were?

i asked why it had not been re-flashed when they told me that was what they were going to do both times and the only thing that the guy said was "i don't know where you got the idea that we were going to have it re-flashed. I never said that". my dad and i were both there while he went through the whole lot looking for another wrx to trade computers with, so that he could give me the good one and send in the bad one and let me go. The guy there is just an idiot.

that dealership is only 30 minutes away from my dorms in san jose, so when i do get my car back i will take it there. should i wait until the check engine light comes on again or should i take it there as soon as i get it back, even though the check engine light is not on?

Well, I have heard good thing about them. You could also take it to Santa Cruz...but some think it is a bit to far...They have GREAT Customer Service too....and worth the drive.
Like I said before....if this guy is forgetting what he did and said to you...you cant trust him. I hate people like that. And he isn't fixing it for you either, so....there you go Skip him!!

Dude, you should take a tape recorder there next time, and get him on tape saying it. Then when he claims he didn't say it, just go, "So I have you saying that you were going to reflash my computer right here." Then play it for him. Then ask him, "So you are lying right to my face when you claimed you never said you were going to reflash my computer. Then contact the BBB and have their rights to service cars REVOKED!! There is nothing I hate more than people who lie directly to my face.
to lying sacks of SHlT!!!!!!!
