Hey tsb,

I live relatively close to you (Rockland Cty, NY) and I've just bought a new Outback Sport so I think my experience could be useful for you.
While shopping the dealers in the area, I visited Liberty Subaru in Oradell, NJ, Ramsey Subaru in Ramsey, NJ and Bill Kolb Jr. in Orangeburg, NY. Out of all of them I got the best deal from Bill Kolb and that's where I purchased my car from (picked it up last night, actually). I'll just give you some numbers and you can figure it out from here yourself if they do give good deals or not.
I paid $18,288 for the car + $10 inspection fee + $20 doc fee + $1553 tax (8.125%) + $75 processing fee (to get the color that I wanted since they didn't have it on their lot....so if you get the car off the lot you don't pay this extra $75)
The options that I got were:
- automatic transmission
- armrest extension
- splash guards
- rubber strips on the roof (instead of cargo net that I've originally requested, but that's a very minor thing)
Carsdirect.com gave me a quote of $18,889 for the same configuration and an invoice of $19,164. Edmunds givesa True Market Value price of $18,806. So figure out yourself if something like that would be a good deal for you or not. I think it was pretty good and that's why I went for it. No matter where you decide to get your car from, email the internet sales manager first and get their quote---it will always be lower than if you just walk into the dealership and talk to a floor salesperson. At Bill Kolb the difference between floor and internet salespeople was about $500 (floor being higher).
Even though I didn't get the WRX the pricing differentials on it would be similar to what I've just described.
So if you have any questions about the buying experience in North Jersey/Rockland Cty areas feel free to email or PM me (and I could get you the contact info for the salesperson that I've dealt with).

Nick
