07 prices

Hey all, I recently had a local dealership give me a handwritten estimate for an 07 wrx. After calling other shops to compare prices, I realized Subaru has given out prices on their entire lineup except for imprezas. It seems the dealer just priced out an 06 for me, but he clearly wrote and stated to me it would be an 07 model, and after leaving a $500 deposit the car would be here in about 5 weeks.

Does anybody have any clue if the 07 tr will have the same price as the 06? I'm a little nervous of giving the dealer a deposit to find out the prices increased too much that I won't be able to afford the car (and lose the $500 deposit.)

The only two options I see in this situation are to just walk away (but a white 07 tr sounds so beautiful to me) or to get the dealers word (hopefully in writing) that he'll sell me the car at the price he gave me (2% above invoice for a tr with fog lights and a spoiler.)

This is my first time buying a car, and I've called quite a few dealers and am only getting frustrated. Between getting lowballed on my tradein which I've decided to sell privately and now this lack of price run-around... and the 06 leftovers don't seem to be working out either. Any ideas/opinions? Greatly appreciated as this will be my first suby (a subynewbie!)

If this is your first time buying a car, then you have a lot of homework to do. When I was buying my WRX, I found this site very, very useful. Here check it out: http://www.carbuyingtips.com/ -- Go over it! Not just once, but over and over until you understand what it is you're dealing with.

Secondly, I suggest checking your credit score. Knowledge is power man! Lastly, get yourself an approved auto loan. When you go buy your car, it's like buying it cash. It's more effecient and you know for youself that you did get the right loan, at the right APR %.

Good luck! And oh, did I mention that you should check out that website I linked you to? I can't stress it enough. It will help you!

Thanks for the quick reply, and I have been checking out all the car-buying tips at edmunds.com, and I will definitely check out the info on the site you sent (thanks for that too.)

The question still stands on when the 07 prices are coming out. Any ideas?

The 2007 models will be hitting the dealership lots between August until the end of the year. That's how it usually is for any make. It wouldn't be too long before you can get a price, but I highly doubt there would be any difference in terms of pricing between the time 2006 was released and 2007.

Just so you know... Edmunds is worthless. The industry runs on Kelley Blue Book. We buy, sell and trade based on KBB. Edmunds has sucked a huge piece of the market on worthless info.

BTW, your $500 is completely safe. All deposits are refundable...

Moonroof and spoiler are to be standard on the regular wrx or the tr? May make it very worth it to wait for the 07's to come out. Plus I've been really liking the white color instead of settling for a leftover 06 that's not.
