STi on long road trip question?
Hi i am from colorado and might have to take my STi on a long road trip to las vegas pretty soon. Its a 700-800 miles drive. I just want to know have anyone have taken their STi or wrx on a road trip yet and how was the experience with the car? How was the ride like. I still have everything stock on my STi. even the tires. Please give me some suggestion. I dont want to harm my car for this trip.

Well be carefull with gas becuase i know most sti's experience slight pinging under hard accelleration on 91 octane (California gas)
As for the ride its a personal thing. Some like it rough others do not.

I drove from Sf to chicago in my sti and it was great. Managed to use 93 octane or better the whole way. One of the nice things about the sti is you can set cruise control all the way up to 95mph everyother car I had only went to 80-85. One thing I did notice was that in Utah and Nebraska I got some very strange looks. But overall it was a great trip. After awhile you stop noticing the not so smooth ride.

I never let the gas go below 1/4 tank, or even 1/2 tank in "no where land". I'll even top off a 3/4 full tank if the next large town is 100 or more miles away. That way I have time to look for at least 91 octane and have not been forced to drive on 87. And if 87 gas was all there was, I'd at least be mixing it with some decent gas. I used to carry a couple of emergency octane booster bottles, but never used them and I was more worried about them leaking than running on bad gas.

Word of caution on octane booster bottles if it says it boosts your octane by 7 points it really means .7 octane.
You better off just buying a gallon of pure octane.
