First road trip in the STI - observations...
Well I finally hit the 300 (352.x actually) mile mark on a single tank of gas, though I ended up dumping 14.5 gallons in when I filled up. I averaged around 25mpg on I-5 between Sacramento and Orange County and about 14mpg in LA traffic.
Not once did I have any problem passing any car that felt the need to drive slower than I wanted to go in the left lane and did not burn a drop of oil - so far this car has not had the oil thirst my old WRX had.
Other observations:
The epidemic of elephant racing is at an all time high.
Gas prices of of I-5 suck Goatse's gaping hole.
Subaru can eat ***** for not allowing me to set the cruise control at the speed I wanted to set it at.
I had more people try to race me in 2 days of LA traffic than I have the entire time I have had the car in Sacramento.
Subaru paint still sucks and can be chipped by bugs at a high rate of speed.

Yes, we learned this when Sperry and I were driving I80 east to Lovelock and and I had to pedal it the whole way.

Solutions:
Left foot throttle.
--or--
Since it's all throttle by wire....I've thought about a secondary throttle input that could be hand modulated either on the steering wheel or by the transmission lever. I got this crazy idea when I had teh benzo and was commuting to san jose.
Sue me later.
One of the wish list items for AccessECU is to alter the cruise limit.

The STI is great on road trips, especially when it's sitting on it's trailer behind the Titan.

Nonsense....
Actually, I like driving the Sti on roadtrips still. Even w/ coilovers it drives really well. One thing I did notice though...a good quiet soft set of tires makes a huge difference in comfort over the stockl wheels and tires...
My car on 18" Falken ST115's drove SOOOOOOO Nice, I miss that set up

The wagon was pretty good on its ride to Reno last week. My AP and up would have made it better.
