Steering wheel vibration even after balancing... ?

Hey guys, I'm new to the subaru world, having just bought a 1997 legacy gt auto. 116000 miles. I have a steering wheel shake that seems to increase as the speed increases. I thought of having the wheels rebalanced but it didnt help at all, it does exactly the same thing. I must also mention that I can hear a wheel bearring hum and that the brake pedal pulsates a lot when braking. Could these things also affect steering wheel shake when going straight without applying the brakes ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Scy

wheel bearing I understand might cause that... in anycase you REALLY should get that checked out, because if that thing seizes, you could be in for a flat at best, and a new suspension in that corner at worst.
Pulsation in the brakes mean pads are worn and need replacing and/or your brake rotors need replacing.
other steering wheel shaking I know of is:
bent axle (but generally the car would teeter a bit)
warped brake rotor (only when braking)
hopefully I've been of some help, but I'm just speaking from experience, and what little I've seen.

Well, I did have a bad tire and I have 3 wheels that are somewhat bent... Problem solved. the steering wheel shake is almost gone. I still have a humming noise coming from the left front wheel when turning to the right, IE putting pressure on the bearing, which I think is still shot. One other thing, completely unrelated.. well 2 or 3 in fact.. hehe
1- Is it normal that after leaving the lights on, I can remove my key and the car will keep running ?
2- Is it a common problem to have the heater control lights go out ?
3- Can I adjust the tightness of the windows seals on the passenger side without adjusting the door itself ?
Thx !

1. Please clarify. Does the engine "diesel" after you shut it down or does it just keep running like you didn't do anything?
2. No but it should be fixable. Just a PITA to rip the console apart and chane the little bulb or tighten the connection.
3. I don't know how to tighten window seals without adjusting the door. Do you doors have frames?

check the wheel bearing, also check the backing plate, or "gravel gaurd" behind the brake rotor. a loose caliper or bent backing plate could be causeing the scraping noise.
