my wife has the wagon.... i have the sedan.... wagons have more slepper potential thats for sure. as far as performance goes the wagon is about 70-80 lbs. heavier. but with the right mods and tuning i think the wagon can be more rewarding.

Build your own STi wagon.
I believe the wagon is slightly cheaper, and for me the insurance on a wagon was less than a sedan.
Plus, IMHO, wagon's are just plain sexy.

Car Info: 03 WRX Sedan MBP/17X7.5 SSR Comps/225 Kumho MX
Road and Track magazine published 0-60 and 1/4-mile specs for the 02 and 03 WRX Sedan and currently publishes info for the WRX Sport Wagon with the automatic transmission. Road and Track confirmed the '03 WRX Sedan 0-60 of 5.4 sec., but many skilled drivers have improved on this time with the stock car. R&T currently gives the wagon w/automatic a 0-60 of 6.8 sec. Haven't seen specs on what it will do with a manual 5-speed.
Interestingly, since the STi came out, Road and Track has not published specs on the WRX Sedan, probably because Subrau doesn't want to advertise the fact that the STi's 0.5 sec off the WRX Sedans' 0-60 time costs an additional $10K.
When you are dealing with turbo 4-bangers, weight means a lot in performance. Anyone who has driven one alone and then with a passenger aboard can tell you this. 80 pounds may not seem like a lot of extra weight. But it's a weight penalty that you can never get rid of. If you are serious about speed, you will want to go light. That's why things like lighter wheels and other weight-reduction schemes can really improve WRX performance.
Even a weight reduction plan for drivers can make a difference =)
The WRX Sedan trunk is pretty roomy for a car of its size. Have a good look at it and see if it fits your needs.

Wow, good responses everyone. Thank you! I went ahead and bought an '02 silver wagon with premium sound and a roof rack for skiing. The car is in very good condition and checked out at the subaru mechanic with no problems. It has just shy of 25000 miles and I paid $16,750. The only downfall is the tires have 10/32" of tread left on the re92s. Can someone tell me about how much tread life remains on these tires?
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE92's aren't *that* bad for an all season, but when they start to wear they don't grip well at all. New tires might be the most noticable mod for the WRX (at least that I've noticed so far)
Congrats on the wagon! And a bugeye at that. Well done :wiggle:
