mileage

Last month I made a 3,000 mile(almost) trip from northern california to new mexico, then up through southern utah and back across hwy. 50 in nevada. Crossing the sierra through heavy snow both ways, and through heavy snow for about 800 miles. My '02 wrx got just a hair below 29 mpg for the trip running on the economy map (cobb tuning).

That's excellent!

Please see first post of this thread for other info that you can include in your mileage post that may be interesting and useful to other members.

Car Info: 02 WRX Wagon, stock FOR NOW
02 WRX Wagon 5MT 39000mi
bone stock
91 octane

I averaged 22mpg from texas to oregon in Feb.

Now the dealer has replaced the clogged up and downpipe with new OEM units.

I'm getting about 24mpg now city/hwy 50/50. Can't wait for a highway trip to see my mileage.

Funny thing is that I was set at 89mph all through New Mexico and got 26 mpg on a tank. I was thinking that maybe it had to do with the higher elevation because mpg dropped with elevation in Arizona. (ran from Amarillo, TX to San Diego in a day 3.5 tanks)
Anybody else annoyed that they can't set cruise higher than 89???? (at least on long trips)

My 4th entry. When posting, please see first post of this thread for info that should be included in your post. This thread is for calculated gas mileage, only, not guesstimated tankfuls.
year/model: MY02 WRX wingless sedan.
mods that may affect gas mileage: Catless uppipe, 3" catback, factory downpipe and two factory cats. Vishnu Stage Zero reflash (Ecutek). Mobil 1 5W-30 motor oil, Red Line Lightweight ShockProof for 5MT and rear diff, tires inflated to 39 lbs. front, 36 lbs. rear. Stock ride height.
fuel/octane used: Unocal 76, 91 octane (CA premium)
calculated gas mileage: 217.8 miles travelled over two-day weekend round trip Sacramento to San Ramon, using 7.112 gallons of gas equals 30.624 mpg, a new personal best.
type of driving during last fillup: 97% freeway driving, 58 to 65 mph using cruise control when traffic permitted.

I drove slower than posted speed limit of 70 mph on the freeway when it did not constitute a safety hazard to do so. I would match the pace of a big rig in front of me and just allow for a 3-second gap between us. Some of the truck drivers were more consistent than others so I picked the good ones.

The route I chose did include some long up and downhill grades on Hwy 205 connecting to Hwy 580. I also had a couple of short full-throttle blasts to 80 mph to pass slow-moving traffic - not many cars were travelling slower than I was.

Added a Perrin lightweigth crank pulley. City mileage went from an average of 21.6mpg to 23.2mpg. Had Ecutek retuned because it was running extremely rich and highway mileage went from 24.0 on the way to the tuner to 26.5 on the way home.

Yes, and getting an Ecutek reflash doesn't fix this.

Octane used: CA 91
Milage: averaging anywhere from 18-22 depending on how hard I drive/
Mostly City or highway driving? Mostly a commute from Santa Clarita to Northridge, but occassionally from Santa Clarita to Bakersfield/Frazier Park. So, mostly freeway driving.

Miles on that tankful: I usually do about 300 miles on a tank before I fill up.

Car Info: 2000 Impreza L sport Wag.
I drove to the bay area last weekend and ended up getting 34.38 miles to the gal.
I was stoked cause around town all i get is 22-25miles per gal.
I can't wait till I get mods on my car that will help that even more (while Im on the freeway at least).
I was going 75-80 most of the time in my bone stock 2000 impreza L wag.
