I get anywhere from 25-30 mpg
The low end torque makes it fun to mess with ricers at the traffic lights. My mileage might be better otherwise.

I plan on getting a cobb stage 1 power package this summer to help open the top end up a bit. Hope that doesn't affect the mileage too much.

2001 RS

Cobb intake, Borla header, 2.25" catback, Exedy clutch and flywheel

If I take a long highway trip, usually 28-29 mpg averaging 75 mph. If I'm in town for the whole tank, it's usually closer to 23. I tend to shift at 3k at the highest, 3-4 shift is actually 2500. I try to keep cruising RPM as close to 2k as possible. Obviously if I'm going more than 45 mph it's higher, as 75 is at about 3400 for me.

[b]Year/Model:[/b] MY02 WRX sedan.
[b]Modifications:[/b] Catless uppipe, 3" catback, factory downpipe. Vishnu Stage Zero reflash. None of these mods are expected to impact fuel economy significantly on the open road at a constant speed.
[b]Octane used:[/b] 91 (R+M/2) octane, which is standard CA watered-down pump gas.
[b]Mileage:[/b] 22 to 23 mpg during average weekly commute, which includes fairly heavy stop-and-go highway traffic.

My last 200-mile trip netted me 29.89 mpg consisting of almost all highway travel at a constant 65 mph. This also included some long grades, both uphill and downhill.

My worst fuel economy was achieved during a track day at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows CA. While the drive to the track was uneventful with a guesstimated 27 mpg (some full-throttle passing of slow-moving traffic caravans), I arrived at the track with more than 3/4 of a tank of gas. After about four 20-minute track sessions, I was down to about 1/8 of a tank! I wish I'd saved the gasoline receipts so I could figure out the true mileage using algebra. I can speculate that my average mpg during track sessions was about 10 mpg.

I believe it is possible to beat the EPA estimated highway fuel economy numbers in a near stock WRX but a constant speed must be maintained to do so. I also think that maintaining highway speeds of 75+ may see mileage numbers start to creep back down due to increased wind resistance. Power needed to overcome this resistance is exponential, not linear.

The EPA fuel economy test cycle is driven over a closed course and is not real world driving, therefore the last three vehicles (two non-Subaru) I've owned have all bettered the highway numbers if I don't encounter traffic.

MPG: about 16.8 mpg all city easy driving. about 25 mpg all highway driving at about 80. At pump, i fill up the tank and then divide the miles driven on trip meter by gallons pumped.

I put my accessport in Economy mode for a gastank and netted only +1mpg. Not worth the 1/2 gallon, or so, of gas I saved compared to the loss of performance. It was almost dangerous. One becomes accustomed to the power quickly and the difference between Stage 1 and economy is dramatic.

BTW, accessport did not noticeably affect my mileage.

I get terrible gas mileage no matter how I drive. High revs, low revs, it doesn't matter. Bad gas mileage!
