Car Info: 02 Impreza WRX sedan
NOTE: Second entry.
Year/Model: MY02 WRX wingless sedan.
Modifications: Catless uppipe, 3" catback, factory downpipe and two factory cats. Vishnu Stage Zero reflash. Mobil 1 5W-30 motor oil, Red Line Lightweight ShockProof for 5MT and rear diff, tires inflated to 39 lbs. front, 36 lbs. rear. Stock ride height.
Fuel used: Exclusively Unocal 76 91 (R+M/2) octane.
Latest observed fuel economy calculation: 28.510 mpg (363.5 miles travelled using 12.750 gallons, single fill-up) during one-day road trip from Sacramento CA to Infineon Raceway (Sears Point) in Sonoma CA, Hwy 101 to Ukiah CA, Hwy 20 to Williams CA, and Hwy 5 back to Sacramento, on 28-August-2005. One passenger went along for entire drive.

Air-conditioning was used for 90% of this road trip - tried shutting it off a few times but outside air temperature was still too warm for me to stay comfortable.

Most of the driving was done at the posted speed limit of 65 or 70 mph but ran into heavy traffic on Hwy 37 near Infineon. I also passed several slower moving vehicles around Clear Lake under maximum boost.

Wow, nice job Alan. There's no way in hell I could average 28 mpg on a road trip that included highway 20. :

That's way low man. Replace yor plugs, air filter (or clean it if it's permanent) and your O2 sensors of course. The gas savings will pay for the tuneup in no time.

Picked up my '06 STi two weeks ago, and it's still bone-stock. I didn't calculate the mpg on the first half tank; but on the next fillup (almost all highway), I got 22.8 mpg. That's with no A/C, but varying engine speeds on the highway (so anywhere between 60 and 80 mph). I'm sure if I kept it at a steady speed the mpg would bump up a little.

2001 2.5RS
mods: short shifter
fuel: Phillips 66 91octane
Last 5 fillups:
10/6 21.8 mpg
9/28 21.78 mpg
9/21 25.30 mpg
9/18 25.18 mpg
9/16 24.18 mpg

As you can see, I had a recent big drop off. I think its mostly because I have been driving a lot more aggresively and less highway miles.

bit late to the thread, but whater

2002 WRX 5spd sedan with 87xxx miles
Mods that affect mileage: 2.5" catless uppipe, bellmouth downpipe, and midpipe, 3" 5zigen catback, STi injectors, VF-34, TurboXS topmount, UTEC, fuel pump (warlbro 34 maybe?)... sometimes a yakima roofrack with ski pinchers and viper bike holder and fairing
Octane: 93 summer/93 winterblend... winter. duh. (except for trips... more on that later)
mileage: 50/50 highway/city with conservative throttle use earns me 20mpg consistantly. If I neglect to pay attention to my happy pedal, it can sink to 15 rather easily. I've never kept track of mileage at a rallyX, but I bet it wouldn't be pretty. Highway only tanks get me 24-25. With the rack on my car, i lose ~15-20%. My car stalls ~10 miles after my gaslight comes on. When travelling, sometimes I have to put 91 in. I find a noticable change in gas mileage, idle stability, and knock. i need a crap gas map.

Only started keeping track of miles per fillup last month. Wish I had started doing that a long time ago.

04 STi
ECUtek reflash, Borla Hush (was added after reflash), 38F/34R psi tire pressure
91 octane
23.28 mpg running average
Around 80% highway driving - usually cruising at 65-75

My two recorded fillups so far were 246.4 miles/10.597 gallons and 241.8 miles/10.372 gallons. I have a habit of filling up when my fuel gauge hits the 1/4 mark. However that seems more like a 1/3rd mark after seeing it fill only ~10.5 gallons each time.

NOTE: Third entry.
Year/Model: 2002 WRX wingless sedan.
Modifications: Vishnu catless uppipe, lightweight front pulley, intercooler hose kit, and Stage Zero reflash. 3" catback, factory downpipe and two factory cats. Factory air intake box with unmodified silencer and OEM paper filter element. Mobil 1 5W-30 motor oil, Red Line Lightweight ShockProof for 5MT and rear diff, tires inflated to 39 lbs. front, 36 lbs. rear. Stock ride height.
Fuel used: Exclusively Unocal 76 91 (R+M/2) octane.
Latest observed fuel economy calculation: 28.061 mpg (283.7 miles travelled using 10.110 gallons, single fill-up) achieved after 90 miles of commuting during moderate traffic and the balance of the 190+ miles from a single Sacramento to San Francisco round trip.

Air-conditioning was not used very much during this period except to occasionally clear windows during morning commute.

Most of the driving was done at the posted speed limit of 65 mph, but varied when traffic was heavier during morning commute.

Gas mileage = throttle position*horsepower.

All stock
Owned for 3 weeks best MPG so far is 17.15(half hwy half city) worse is 14(lot of idleing).
Definately don't think the numbers SOA gave for the STi are very accurate unless you drive 55mph on the hwy in 6th gear and 30mph in city in 4th gear..??

Oh well as someone else said didn't buy it for the gas mileage.

Gas is 2.45 gallon today
