Sucks that you can't get a Scooby.
In any case to answer your question...
Depends on what you want. Both can be made to go nice n' fast. Many people have Type-R's, so you could get a lot of deals and stuff from them.

But I'd go with a SR20, just because less people here have them. And they go faster easier. =)

smart move by your parents, 17 year olds shouldn't be driving wrx's (i know a bunch of people will disagree with me) but thats my opinion.

get a civic or something comparable nothing too fast

to bad no wrx. the sr20 swap is not a cheap one though. by the way dont abandon us just because you dont have a subaru "YET" most of us on here like almost anything with 4 wheels even 2 wheels some times 3 the sr20det is no slouch bump the boost 2 psi and add nitrous and it gets down right scary. Of course mine was front wheel drive

I am not going to disagree with you on that because personally i thought i was a pretty good driver at 17 and i am not saying that all young drivers are a hazard on the road. As Kuehfus pointed out, statistically young drivers are not as responsible. however there are a lot of people older that i would say the same thing to that they shouldn't have a wrx. there are too many horrible drivers out there and they don't know how to control what they have.

Unfortunatly I won't be getting a WRX. I am 17 and I was going to pay the mothly payments and have my parents pay the down payment but my dad just told me that he doesn't want me to drive a "new" car. All this research on the WRX for nothing. This was about 3pm this afternoon and its 7.30 now so i calmed down because i was P I S S E D. I might just have to settle for an integra type r or a 240sx and go for a sr20det swap. Since this might be my last thread in this forum which one do you guys think i should go with?? Thanks for any input and even though i never met anyof you except a very few, you were all helpfull. C ya.

You can get a GC8 2.5RS. Nice car to start off with and still a Subaru.

Do you have an old car that is falling apart now? My first car was a '91 Mitsubishi Mighty Max. Its still a good truck and is doing good for its age. My dad is the one who found the truck and took me to go buy it. Since then, Ive had quite a few break downs, and not always in the most convenient spot (1am or about 100 miles from home...). After that my dad was really wishing I had a new car instead of some old junk, he would always end up telling me about some good new cars for sale. etc.

If this applies to you this may help. As far as age goes, my experiences have been good. Im now 21 and have been driving since 17, I have a clean record (knock on wood).
As long as your confident and not cocky its all good.
