Insurance trying to screw me

Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone could help me out. I was rear ended last week by a woman on her cell phone and it ****ed my rear bumper and Helix exhaust. To make the car bearable to drive to the body shop, i had to drop the axle back because the tip was fubar'd and was making the car drive funny. I'm about to get my car back, but insurance doesn't want to pay for the exhaust without a reciept.
The kick in the nuts here is i bought it from a person i can no longer get a hold of, so i can't get a receipt. Any suggestions? Anybody have a receipt handy that they can scan for me, i figure that would be the easiest way. The person i bought it from said he had gotten it from Gruppe-S, the Helix dp/exhaust combo...

I think if you can get a price quote to replace the exhaust and you have the original(helix) exhaust. Then let them see both. They may pay for it then.

Atleast your insurance company didn't try to put the wreck on you!! That happened to me, some lady which ended up to be my college english teacher rearended me. I called my insurance company and such gave them a report and the cops took the report down also. My insurance called me back and started to tell me that I'm going to have to pay for my damage because it doesn't reach the deductible or whatever. I was like what the hell, the wreck was not my fault. It got fixed but it made me alittle bit mad
at my company for trying to pin the wreck on me.

Your company may not have been trying to pin the wreck on you. When you file through your own insurance you are responsible for the deductible regardless of whose fault it is. FYI always file through the other person's insurance for repairs if the fault is the other person's to avoid paying deductibles. Also if you go through your own insurance ask them to waive the deductible if it was not your fault.

My suggestion? First, go to a doctor ASAP for you neck pain you have as a result of the accident. Second, find a Helix vendor and get a quote for a new muffler just like the one you had.
If the insurance company still refuses to pay, based on *replacement* cost, inform them that you would will settle for $15K today and that you have retained an attorney. If insurance company calls your bluff, you can easily find an attorney to work on a percentage basis, they're like flies to poop in cases like this.
I've been the victim of several drivers inattentiveness in my driving career and without fail, the insuarance companies do everything they can to weasal out of their obligation to pay for damages caused by their insured. If they want to play hard ball with you, I suggest you put on your batting helmet and play. Never speak to the insurance company in an emotional tone, be very polite, succinct and patient. The insurance companies have more lawyers, but the law is still on your side.

Whats the price difference on a Helix exhaust compared to Subaru stock exhaust?
I know OEM parts are expen$ive sometimes...maybe more the Helix
I had the same problem a while back on my motorcycle...Ins co didnt want to pay claim for $500~ pipe on the bike, so I let them pay the $800 for the muffler and $300 for the stock pipe
although I dont know if the prices are like that on Subys..just guessing
