I Wanna go Faster
Hi - sorry if this is not the correct forum, but I just signed up and couldn't find a better one.
I recently got a Turbo XS ECU and and up-pipe installed in my 2003 WRX wagon - it seems better, but now I want to go a bit faster. From what I've heard/read, the next thing to do is to replace the exhaust system - any ideas?
My main consideration is of course, lots more power - but I rather like the stealth aspect of the car, and would love to keep it REASONABLY quiet.
Any comments/suggestions greatly appreciated...Chris

Turbo should be last on the list. Getting a bigger turbo just entails tons of other stuff like fuel management. I would go with a downpipe and an exhaust. The scooby sports sounds pretty low key until you really jump on it. I would save a bigger turbo for later, because you are going to run into detonation problems unless you have good fuel management and good engine management(do you know how to tune your UTEC?). I would just work on freeing up your exhaust.

I think the perrin dp is nice because of the divorced wastegate dump. If you get one that just has a wall where the wastegate dumps to you create massive flow restrictions where the wastegate gasses have to merge with the exhaust gasses. There are a few other companies that make divorced wastegate dumps but I can't think of them off the top of my head. If you wanna keep it quiet I would probably consider the scooby sport, I also head that the cobb exhaust was pretty quiet until you get on the gas. If you want a bigger, better flowing, exhaust then you will have more noise when you get on the gas, but you can always look for an exhaust with silencers, but again that creates a hinderence for the exhaust gas. But it is all up to you in the end, I would just go to a suby meeting in your area and see if there are any exhaust sounds you like.
