How long did you take until you redlined?

you never once took it past 4500rpm for the first 1000 miles? Way to glaze the rings...

Dont beat on it, but dont not rev it, you're rings will never seat as well as they could have now

9239 miles and I have yet to redline it...

I have gone up to 4k, and 5k... I think maybe 5,500rpms once, but to be honest I can't remember. I hardly drive my car above 4krpms. I normally shift at 3-3500 rpms...

I have no exhaust yet so to me there is no point. Plus I don't want to hurt the car.

man i dont get you guys.. i myself paid for my car so therefore i dotn beat the **** out of it... granted i like to drive fast but i dont beat it.. anyway first 1k miles no more than 4k... second 1000 up to 5000 rpm.. after that i think i did it once and i didnt mean it.. (1st gear gets there quick) anyway after like 5500 rpm your wasting ur time the touque curve and turbo drop like a stone.. just go to the next gear its faster that way...

but hey its ur money.. (or mom and dads..)

Errr...I redlined first and second at about 6 miles. I hit about 5K in 3rd then backed off. After that I followed the break in procedure to 1000 miles. I just had to make sure "she had it where it counts" before I gave my check to the dealership. I'm at 42K miles and haven't used any perceptible amount of oil, so I think the rings are fine.

Doesnt redlining the car once in a while help to better seat the rings? Higher RPMs are still part of the rev band.

Uhuh. Right. Shift at 5500 rpm to go faster. Tight.

Sometimes I wonder where people come up with this stuff, then my head starts hurting and I give up.

the reason you would shift at redline, even though the power drops off after 6k is because 1st gear at 7500rpms still puts more power to the wheels than 2nd at 4000 which is where you'd be if you shifted at 5500. follow?

actually I just pulled those numbers out'v my ***, but the idea is to start the next gear making more power per rpm than your previous gear.. timing your shifts for the fastest possible 0-100 can be fun you should try it

yes, so that you have build boost again after shifting? you rev as has you can go when pushing the car so what when you shift, the RPM in which you end up at will be the highest it can be, favorable if you can keep the car in the spooled up rev range. (about 3.5k-7k is where there is solid full boost)

""you never once took it past 4500rpm for the first 1000 miles? Way to glaze the rings...""

I thought that glazing the cylinder walls and rings was from taking the rpm's too high for the first 1000miles, which heated the oil up too much, causing the glaze?

anyway, doesn't SOA say not to take it over 4k rpm for the first 1000miles??
