I'am almost ready to buy a 03 wrx in mid or late March but Im starting to have some late conserns about this whole deal. I know its a new car but from what I heard the wrx tranny wont stand up too long to the at least 300hp plan I wanna get it too. And iI would be paying for the car for like 5 years. My parents are helping me with like half the paymets its still going to hard for me to get the money. I thought about getting a N/A mr2 for like 2k and ther2 is this shop that can put a basicly new 220hp JDM engine in it for a final price of 4k. My friend has done this and he said the car is still rilable even after a lot of mods and will last a long time. So this is my delema, i can get a new car for like 24k out the door or a mr2 for like 6k or 7k that would be a better staight line and hanlding car(correct me if Im wrong on this). I you guys can give a some sugestions on what I should do. That would be able to help me figure out what to do. Thanks

 

IMO you should do what you feel is the best way to go. have you looked into an RS yet? you can pick up a 2000 2.5RS with under 60k for around $14,000. slap in a turbo for $4,000 and you're in rex territory with 5-7 grand to spare. that'll pay for an upgraded tranny that's making you look another direction.

 

Don't over-extend yourself on a car. You'll hate yourself later. Later like when you run it into a tree and your $4k of mods are lying on the side of the road. Like a good neighbor State Farm says **** off - to mods.
