Drive shaft

So i have heard of people getting a custom one piece steel driveshaft made at a shop. Was wondering if anybody in the bay area has done this or knows a shop that does? Dont really want to drop a grand on a CF one and i dont want to modify my car to fit the bigger aluminum shaft. Thanks

There are limits on how long you can make steel driveshafts, and is why you find OEM is two parts. Something to do with vibrations and the weight of steel, this is why the one piece shafts are not made of steel.

+1. those ***** are not light! i say your best best prob is saving up for CF. im not too familiar, but i would think CF would respond a lot quicker than stell or alum. just due to rotational mass and forced needed. just my .02. eventually ill be going CF for lightweight and quicker response. but im sure there are in fact places that could do that for you.

I cant help on custom driveshafts but I do have a CF driveshaft from dss. No vibrations, faster revs, smoother drive and i imagine it saved some hp that was getting lost through the drivetrain since its lighter. It was one of the mods I really wasn't sure about doing. Now that I have done it I would say it was money well spent and my best mod I have done. You will feel a difference in the car right away when accelerating and shifting. Car just feels more responsive and smoother.

I have also heard aloooot of guys having vibration issues with the aluminum driveshafts which is why I went CF.
