I really haven't been an enthusiast until about 3 years ago when I first bought a 2nd generation turbo II rx-7. First mod...HKS Intakes. That sucker took me about 2 hrs to put in(it was such a PITA)...shift 3 years later and I don't even run an intake anymore...lol...
Everybody has to start somewhere....so the n00b comment was a bit "big headed" of me. I started out as a measily 220~ rwhp with my current rx-7. I've doubled that horsepower and them some now. Looks to me like owning a Subaru is as challenging as owning an rx-7(but with less maintenance). Definitely a design not part of the normal, that's for sure.
I'm going to do some searching for companies that make dogtooth tranny's for the '93 WRX. If not, looks like a STI swap is in order
Anybody know how much torque the STI 6 speed tranny can take?

look mate next time be more friendly or i wont help.
you want to know about wrxs well i have owned one longer than any one on here, no offence guys, as i am an aussie.
mate it all depends on the times you want to run.
a dog box is really not needed unless you are after 10 sec 1/4 times.
the best brand of dog box around is modena they are about $9,000 in aussie dollars brand new but a dog box will only last for about 25,000km.
i have put a set of ra sti gears in my box just a 5 speed set as the 6 speed are way to exspensive.
they are about 30 percent stronger than stock gears and will allow you to run into the 11's if you get a good set that hasn't been floged.
as for a clutch change take the tail shaft out then remove your front drive shafts and undo the bolts on the box and slide it back and there is your clutch simple.
the 6 speed gears are a bit stronger but not that much that for the difference in price.
mate i have the following mods.
full 3 inch exhaust
vf 23 turbo
chiptorque chip
pod filter
cold air intake
dakin heavy duty clutch
with those mods and unfortuneately a blown head gasket the car put out 177.4kw @ the wheels on 17.8 psi.
hope that helps mate.
anything else you want to know just ask.

we all start somewhere...
I am very new to the subaru arena, and I have asked some questions, and searched for answers that probably are blatantly obvious, but I just bought this car, brand new. I am not going to go hacking it up without first researching it as much as possible.
I have a lot of experience with cars, I first owned a vw bug (74) that I had running 14s when I was in highschool. I then worked on cars for ford for about 2 years, earning a few of the ford certifications, and then I got my integra.
now I am in the subaru clan, for me it seems to be a very wise decision, and at this point in the game I am doing day long searches on which splitter is the best to use with what I currently have, but as I said earlier, I don't want to screw it up, I want to know as much as possible before I just start ripping things apart, and break something. 10 years of car driving, and working on cars has tought me to read the section of the manual about what you are doing twice, and have the manual right next to you while you are actually working.
I really don't know where I am going with this, but anyway, welcome to the subaru group, I hope you enjoy your stay and can find the answers you seek! I know I haven't been disapointed yet!

yours being a *** spec one you may be able to just bolt an ra sti box in,but i am not sure of that as mine is an aust spec and is different to the *** boxes so i just did the internals as the aussie box were 3.9 raitio compared to the *** ones which are either 4.1 or 4.4 raitio and the box wont just bolt in.

jspecracer7, little off the subject here, but is a 13B really a 1.3L or is it a 2.6L. i read an article about this subject before in my n00b days and all i could interpret and remember was it either 1.3L for each rotor (two rotars making 2.6) or somthing like 2-stroke=1.3L and 4-stroke=2.6L, but how could it be a 2-stroke and 4-stroke at the same time? so is it a 1.3L or 2.6L?
