There are few clubs that I look up to in terms of what they are today. I take lessons from my mistakes (I have been involved in "running" sites like this since 1997). I listen to members and adjust everything accordingly.

Here is the list of rules I have for myself.

1. I don't look at members as "numbers".
2. I don't care for useless traffic regardless of its size.
3. I listen to what members say and want.
4. I make changes to club "managing" based on the opinion of the majority and not the whining of the few (even if they are friends)
5. I will not sell out.
6. I will not get my personal views get in the way of the club.
7. I don't shut people up and let them say what they want. (excluding profanity)
8. No banning.
9. No flaming.
10. Don't let brucelee post oiled up pics of himself.
11. I don't force my opinion down anyones throat.
12. Keep censorship to a minimum. (only profanity, all caps, etc)

All the DSM forums were the worst. Everyone apparently knew how to do everything, except they wouldn't tell anyone else how to do it. Bunch of arseholes.

I'm a mod at www.odyclub.com. Yeah,a minivan club. We're pretty close knit and a good bunch at that.

i am a member of focusfanatics.com, import-theory.com, scene-mag.com, and of course wrc.com - without badmouthing any of these forums- generally speaking i-club is a "seasoned" site. maturity levels seem higher in here.
the moderators in here when i 1st joined ruled with a iron hand wrapped in a down pillow
. and i truly appreciated that- through my mistakes of learning the ropes i was "taught" very gingerly.
the subaru community is generally of a higher income bracket thus generally
weeding out younger less mature enthusiasts- not to shortchange anyone because of age but i think that is a fair generalization-
i-club is typically a clean site with constant movement and changes which is important to adapt with the times.
