Impreza L compared to a 2.5rs

I am looking to buy a 96-98 Impreza L and drop a 2.5 rs engine into it. I need to know a few things comparing a 2.5rs 98 sedan to a L.

Whats the difference between the 2 suspensions.....
What is the difference in the transmission. Maionly need to know if the 5 speed manual is compatible witht he RS engine.
Any other major things that have to witht he engine. Not really caring about the outside untill later (i need power not looks and eventually I want to make it look like a 2.5rs)

Hi Malero,

I don't own a Subbie, but I'm interested in getting myself an L if I can't find a nice 2.5RS to fit my budget.

Anyways, I believe the suspension is a lot softer on the L.

As for transmission, the 2.5RS has a shorter gear ratio compared to the Impreza L (or 2.5TS). I'm not sure if this is correct. Someone help?
