1994 Imprezza dash illumination gone!

Former b-friend trashed my car, Have repaired front left fender,
speedo, and replaced damaged wheel. will replace dash cluster
window soon. Have no dash illumination. Light switch works,
warning lights work, directional signal, tach all work. but it is dark at night, and that is no fun. Just realized how fast I usually drive with repair of speedo. I found a combo switch from a 95 imprezza outback, in working condition, and plugged that in to the lighting connector. lights work, but still no dash lights at all, not for instrument cluster, or climate controls. any help will be appreciated. thanks, em

Sorta confused, do your dash lights work? It's possible that in the crash or whatever it was that happened that the harness came loose or the connectorxs got disconnected. Have you gone through and checked all the connectors? It sounds like it's probably something simple to fix.

Thanks for the input. will dismantle instrument cluster to investigate damaged connecting pins. combination switch connector is in good shape. All fuses good, this is totally confusing. A new stereo was installed, and I am suspecting this might have something to do with it as well. em
