how can there be no 05 STi jang? your judgment is quite odd.
the STi and EVO and any other car dont just come out for one year, every car has come out for more than 1 year, type R, m3, EVO, s2000, supra, rx7, civic si, m5, 911 turbos, how can u make a super car and only sell it for one year.
that dont make sense to me
from what i see as reality, there WILL BE 05 STi's, and id bet on that for $1,000,000,000,000.
just realize when i get my 05 STi i will be better than you, hahahah jk jk

Thanks for the assist Joe Mama.
But I've known these guys, AMD & Downshift, for months now...and their just giving me $hit as I've given them at time, and thats fine.
As for the comments yes most vehicles are run year after year, I never said they weren't (RX-7, Civic Si, et. al.). Nor did I say there would be no '05 STi.
What I did state was; "As for a '05 STi, it hasn't been announced by SOA yet that this car will go forward." <This is a fact!>
...and I also stated;
"Sales will dictate that as well as scheduling for release of a new Impreza chassis." <Which is also a fact.>
Just as DS ran down a list of vehicles that haven't been short production runs, I can do similarly for those that have (i.e. Cobra R, ZR-1, Supra TT, C2 America, Celica AWD, Gallant VR-4) but I just don't have the time or care enough to go in to extreme detail.
Besides what do I care if they come up with a model for '05? My wait is nearly over.
What I will do is enjoy my '04 and if a '05 comes out, ok great.
If not, then oh well. I can be neither wrong nor right on this though as I only stated the '05's haven't been announced yet. Thats all.
Folks inferred the rest.
AMD & DS might well stand in the shade, enjoy a cool glass of haterade, and chill out...

Janq- I hear ya.
Just out of curiousity...Will Subaru do minor tweaks to adjust problems people are having when more recent 04's are built?
For example, could they fix the speedometer problem I've been hearing about, or the rear wing flapping at speeds over 65 or whatever? Like would they just make "tweaks"?

One can only imagine that as with all other first year release vehicles they'll have adjustments & fixes that'll become necessary as the car progresses. Not even Lexus hits the ball out of the park on the first MY release of a new model.
Personally I don't see the rear wing movement/undulation as a problem, its just not rigid like CF or aluminum. Folks are flipping out about not seeing that type of movement before...but then when is the last time a manuf. released to NA a car with a 3 foot by 5 foot rear wing? All we're familiar with are those add-on units from fill in the blank performance parts.
As for the speedo thing people have been belly aching about, that too IMHO is a non-issue. All cars have a degree of variance to their speedo's (some worst than others) but none are horribly bad. Further if I'm travelling at 71 and my speedo is reading 75, I'm not going to be that concerned about it. Besides it'll help keep me out of tickets, so I see it as a benefit. ; )
My current Legacy which is running 3 year old Blizzaks is currently reading over by about 8 MPH as compared to my normal all season radials. I don't cry about it...I just go at the speed appropriate for the conditions as based on my eye. If I needed to know my exact speed for track/sporting use I'd invest in a G-Meter anyway.
The odometer is where folks concerns should lie as it needs to be positively accurate, and they usually are. As long as there is no issue here, I'll focus my attention toward things that matter like finding decent all-season/commuter tires, a decent low cost radio, praying every night for Prodrive to bring over their STi specific hop-up kits, and remembering to wear a bib while I drive to keep my jeans dry as folks may think I **** myself everytime I drive the STi.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but hey thats all I've got...

my point is even though SOA has not made any official announcement of the 05 STi, they will still be 05 Sti's, ofcourse SOA isnt gona announce 05 yet, 04's are just beginning to come out, the point is official or unofficial, 05 STi's are coming.

Don't sweat it old boy as you can be a STi owner 'by proxy' through me and Essogas.
Just tell us where you'ld like to go and how fast...
BTW, last night my father in-law e-mailed me about my STi asking a bunch of questions. He wants to get one now too, instead of a Mini, after hearing me rant about it and reading my review of Meridoc's STi.
He'll be here next weekend to stay for a week so I plan to let him drive it around. I'm trying to talk him out if it though and into the more purposeful Forester 2.5 XT Turbo or a regular WRX.

He's a good driver and has only onwed manual trans vehicles for the past 55 years (he's 65 and had a used Buick coupe as his first car when he was 10!). The hard part I suspect will be gettingmy keys back and getting him to come in at night from drooling at it in the driveway.
